Book Review: Year of Yes

Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes

โคโคโคโคโค/5

Synopsis: “How to Dance It Out, Stand in the Sun and Be Your Own Person” Shonda Rhimes takes us behind the scenes of her very personal life and how some muttered words from her sister became a challenge that changed Shonda’s life : “You never say yes to anything”.

I bought this book out of the need to just try something different from my usual pile of YA fiction. And I thought, “oh Shonda Rhimes, I’ve heard of you and this sound interesting”.

You see, I’m one of those people who is aware of their flaws, but I tell myself, as long as I know them, I’m half way there. BUT I rarely do anything to improve on them and that is why Year of Yes was an eye-opener.

Year of Yesย touches upon how Rhimes must accept herself for who she is because she has worked hard for it, how to enjoy the moments in life, how hard it truly is for women to juggle family and career, how to accept the hardest challenges we think is in our way and many more life fulling topics. She doesn’t shy away from painting the truth behind why she started this journey and how hard every YES was to make.

Shonda Rhimes created a masterpiece that keeps you eager for her next reveal, almost like her TV shows, although I have only caught an episode, here and there.

I’d recommend this book to everyone out there. We can all learn one or two things from other peoples journey!

February TBR

I got to complete a whole book in January even though January felt like forever. That one book was important to me to complete because I’m trying to find a way to keep my hobbies (reading, filming, blogging & making wigs) and succeed in PA school.

If you’ve been following my blog or Instagram or Youtube, you’ll know that PA school is really really hard & time comsuming. I almost want to stop blogging but then, that thought makes me really sad. So, I will keeping trying to balance both since they’re a part of me.

Here, I have my very small February TBR list:

1. When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Manon

2. Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes

3. There’s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins

Have you read any of this ? And what books are you reading this month?
